What's Yours, What's Licensed

Licenses & Ownership

What you fully own after delivery, what technology we build with, and how the licensing behind it all works.

Overview

This page explains what you own when you receive a completed project from Webnex, what licenses cover the open-source and third-party technology we build with, and what rules apply if you reuse anything from our own site or brand.

02

License to Your Delivered Website

Once your project is paid in full, you receive full ownership of the custom design, layout, and source code we built specifically for your project. This means you can:

  • Host it anywhere, on any provider of your choice.
  • Modify, extend, or hand it off to another developer or agency.
  • Use it commercially without any ongoing fee or royalty to us.

This ownership applies to what we built for you specifically — original design, layout, and custom code. It does not extend to the third-party libraries, fonts, or frameworks used to build it (see below), which remain governed by their own licenses, or to any stock assets that carry usage restrictions we've flagged to you.

03

Third-Party Technology We Build With

Every project we deliver is built using open-source frameworks and libraries. These remain under their original licenses — most are permissive open-source licenses (like MIT) that place very few restrictions on use. A summary of the core stack:

TechnologyCategoryLicense
Next.jsFrameworkMIT
ReactUI LibraryMIT
Tailwind CSSStylingMIT
Framer MotionAnimationMIT
TypeScriptLanguageApache 2.0
Lucide IconsIconographyISC

Specific projects may use additional libraries depending on scope (CMS platforms, animation libraries, payment SDKs, etc.) — these are documented in your project handoff notes where relevant.

04

Fonts, Icons & Stock Assets

Where a project uses licensed fonts, premium stock photography, or paid icon sets, we'll tell you upfront whether the license transfers to you or needs to be purchased/renewed directly by you. Common cases:

  • Google Fonts and other open web fonts — free to use, no attribution required, included automatically.
  • Premium/licensed fonts — usage terms depend on the foundry; we'll flag if a separate license is needed for your use case.
  • Stock photography and illustration — sourced from libraries with commercial licenses appropriate to a business website; extended licenses (print, resale, etc.) are your responsibility if needed.
  • Custom illustration or photography we commission for you — ownership transfers to you as part of project deliverables, unless otherwise agreed.
05

Our Own Site, Brand & Content

Everything on the Webnex website itself — our logo, brand name, copy, design system, and portfolio presentation — is the property of Webnex and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse our branding, site design, or written content without our written permission.

This is separate from the website we build for you — your delivered project is yours; our own marketing site and brand identity remain ours.

06

Portfolio & Case Study Usage

As noted in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, we may showcase completed projects (screenshots, descriptions, and high-level outcomes) in our own portfolio and marketing materials, unless you request otherwise in writing. This never includes confidential business information, credentials, or private client data.

Changes to This Page

We may update this page as our technology stack or licensing practices evolve. We'll post the revised version here with an updated effective date.
